Mission Overview ▸ Meetings ▸ Second Users Meeting
This meeting provided a quick overview of the status and performance of HICO for those that were in Glasgow for the Ocean Optics Conference or otherwise able to attend. The presentations highlighted progress and results using HICO data by several groups. Click on the presentation name in the agenda below to see a pdf of the presentation.
The discussion focused on common issues and ways to move forward. A key issue remains atmospheric correction and correction for skylight reflected off the sea surface. Each group used its own procedure for atmospheric correction with varying results. A key recommendation was to make available an example set of images with level 1a and atmospherically corrected products that people could share and compare including producing their own atmospherically products for comparison. These images should include some ground truth for product validation. Five images from very diverse water types would be ideal. Images that were suggested include Puerto Rico, Faure Sill, Lake Erie, AAOT off Venice Italy and a turbid river plume. We will work on assembling the data sets and make them available later this year.
