The VIIRS geolocation code currently requires a rather large (52GB) Digital Elevation Map (DEM) data set.
Because of its size, SeaDAS does not provide this DEM with the normal processing distribution package.
If the geolocation files provided by the OB.DAAC are not sufficient for your needs (i.e. you need to process
extracted L1A files), you will need to acquire the DEM data set from our FTP server:

        ftp://samoa.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/VIIRSL1/DEM-LWM.tar.gz

Extract this file under your $OCDATAROOT/viirsn directory.

(HINT: If you do not have 52GB of available space there, you can create a symbolic link "dem" to point to the location where you do have space to extract this large data set.)

We are working on a replacement DEM data set that will be significantly smaller (although will probably still be about 5GB).
Once that is ready, the DEM will be distributed with the normal processing package update process.
